John married Nicolas Murray 15 February 1764 in Kirkcudbright, Scotland. They had 4 children born in Scotland: John - chr.11 Jul 1764 Three children are listed with them on their passenger list when they immigrated in 1776; Anthony, Elizabeth and Nicolas [who may have been Mary]. According to Anthony when he was interviewed by a newspaper, he lost a sister on the trip to America when she fell overboard and was eaten by sharks that were following the ship - but the name of the sister isn't mentioned. There is also a story that John and Nicolas had a child born during the ocean crossing. The family first settled in Bergen County New Jersey and John is found until 1800 in Saddle River, Bergen County, New Jersey. Anthony moved to Whitehall and is first found there in 1800.
